句動詞を知れば知るほど、よりネイティブのような表現ができるようになります。
cry off (BrE, informal) to say that you cannot do something that you promised to do
cry off (BrE, informal) 約束したことができないと伝えること
つまり、「断る、約束を取り消す」という意味です。
She said she was coming to the party but cried off at the last moment.
彼女はパーティーに来ると言ったけど、ぎりぎりになって取り消した。
cry off at the last moment で「ドタキャンした」という意味になります。
